Colin’s interest in photography dates back to time spent as a child with his Dad in the family ‘darkroom’ (temporarily converted bathroom) in the ’60s. Purchasing our RV in 2015 and planning extensive travel provided the impetus to re-activate this hobby and, after much analysis, to purchase a new camera. Over the intervening years, photography became a major part of his retirement life and he participates in a local camera club, competitive image review meetings, and plans to continue to hone his skills. We have decided to keep this travel website / blog alive as a vehicle to share his photography. Expect the website’s name to change to reflect this.
In 2018 we had a bit of a rocky road. In Quebec, on our way to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, we had an accident. Six months later, with a new Roadtrek and healing time, we decided to resurrect our travels and in the Fall of 2019 we travelled via Maine to Cape Breton. During this trip, we finally had to acknowledge that our dog Bindi just wasn’t a good traveller any longer. After many attempts to overcome these problems, including a test drive to Assateague (3 hours) with a new seat for Bindi, we made a decision to give up our RV travels and sold our RV.
Prior to 2018, we completed a nearly 11-month trip, driving 22,000 miles. This took us twice into Canada (Tobermory and Vancouver Island), visiting many of America’s National Parks and Wildlife Preserves, the West Coast, South via New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana to Florida’s Emerald Coast, and finally home to Annapolis. We hope you will enjoy the words and pictures from our travels in our Roadtrek class ‘B’ motorhome and join us as we continue our next adventure. You can explore all of these travels via our ‘Interactive Maps’ menu system (button above).
After 24 years, we’re finally saying goodbye to our beloved sailboat. Cheryl’s requests to ‘pull over for a few minutes’ have been becoming more frequent during our sailing trips and Colin finally agreed it was time to look for a ‘Land Cruiser’. Here is ‘Mick Mac’ on its way to her new owner on Lake Erie, Ohio.
After much analysis we decided on a Roadtrek CS Class ‘B’ motorhome built on a Mercedes ‘Sprinter’ Van. It arrived in late November 2014 (just in time for Winter) and we took a few shakedown cruises during the first part of 2015 before our first major trip to the North Carolina and Tennessee Smoky Mountains in September 2015.
